There have been several key announcements by alternative energy companies that have resulted in notable stock movements.

Patent litigation concerning LED technologies brought on by Royal Philips Electronics settled. Stock gains 23% in one day, and over 300% for the month, thought is still down 55% for the year. Nexxus Lighting, Inc. Nexxus Lighting manufactures illumination products, including light emitting diode (LED) and fiber optic lighting. The Company offers a range of products include replacement lamps, flood lights and linear strips, signage, channel letter and contour lighting. |

Gevo announces shift from biobutanol to ethanol production. Stock drops 35% in one day and sinks to a record low. Gevo, Inc. GEVO is a start-up phase company that focuses on renewable chemicals and advanced biofuels. The company’s goal is to commercialize alternatives to petroleum-based products. Gevo primarily works on isobutanol and ethanol related products and its principal markets include solvents, coatings, plastics and biofuels. |

Tesla substantially reduces 2012 revenue forecast from $560-$600 million to $400-$440 million. Also announces share offering to raise $150 million. Shares fall 10% in one day, but still up 12% annually. Tesla Motors TSLA is a development-phase company that develops and sells electric vehicles. It currently produces the Tesla Roadster and is developing other products such as the Model S and Model X. Tesla also sells advanced electric vehicle components, such as lithium-ion battery packs, electric motors and gearboxes. |
